Comic Con? In June? Well that’s what’s happening this weekend at the Jacob Javitz Center in NYC.
In case you hadn’t heard, Special Edition:NYC is a celebration of all things comic book, brought to us by ReedPop, the same folks New York Comic Con, C2E2 and the Star Wars Celebrations. If you don’t like crowds and want to get up close and personal with some of your favorite comic book writers and artists, then you should get to city ASAP, as tickets are available at the door.
There is a very intimate feel, with the majority of the con is taking place on the Javitz Center’s North Pavillion (Where Artist Alley was during NYCC13). Fans and creators are much closer together, and with smaller crowd, compared to NYCC, it’s much easier for fans to connect with their favorite artists. What I really like about getting to talk directly to the artists, and find out more about the projects they are working on, outside of the “Big Two” like James Tynion IV. Tynion is one of the head writers on Batman Eternal. He is also writing The Woods (from BOOM! Studios) and The Eight Seal, and The House in the Wall, both digital titles from Thrillbent.
Just because it’s a small con, doesn’t mean there isn’t plenty of stuff to discover. There are plently of vendors on site. so if your looking for that hard to find action figure or back issue you may be able to track it down here and of course there’s cosplay.
See more pics on our Facebook page.
There are panels both days of Special Edition, not as many as at NYCC, but they are focused on the comics. Whether you want to know what your favorite publisher is up to, or you want to find out how to publish your own comics, there is a panel for you.
Special Edition: NYC runs thru Sunday June 16
Oh I ran into NYC Assassin while I were there today.
