Marvel had planned to début the first trailer for the Avengers: Age of Ultron during last night’s Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., but of course the internet happened, and we all got to see that a little earlier than they planned.
Marvel wisely decided to put a better quality version of the trailer on their youtube page, and in doing so, set a record, notching over 34 million views in the first 24 hours (and is rapidly approaching 50 million). But that left ABC without a draw for the weekly Marvel Cinematic Universe series, so Marvel added a little something extra, new footage from the next biggest movie ever. See it below.
The scene was part of the material screened at this year’s Avengers panel at San Diego Comic Con. The Avengers have gotten together for a social call, the good times are being had, libations are flowing. And Thor’s hammer is the subject of that fun, as the Avengers check their worthiness for godhood, before being rudely interrupted by Pinocchio, I mean Ultron. After the scene, a modified version of the trailer, featuring a couple of new bits of material, featuring Black Widow.
Of course don’t expect this to be last time Marvel and Disney get together to whet the appetites of the legion of fans who scan the internet for every scrap of information they can get about Joss Whedon’s superhero magnum opus. And with the announcement of Phase 3, fans want to know even more. They won’t have to wait too long to see more tho, as another clip will air on November 9 at 9pm, on ABC’s Marvel 75 Years: From Pulp to Pop! (Assuming the internet doesn’t get it first.)
