Say Hello to Dinsey’s Guardians of the Galaxy

Disney’s animated adaptation of last year’s hit Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy has taken its sweet time to make it to TV screens, but now we finally have our first look, and a première date!

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, the cartoon will première on Saturday, September 26th at 9:30 (unless of course, you count the sneak peek they plan on showing on September 5th (at 9, but shhhh  it’s a sneak peek, don’t tell anyone else, O.K.?)

Here’s a first look of what you can expect to see this fall..

Sure, it’s just a teaser, so it’s not like we can tell a whole lot, so we’ll have to wait a few weeks before we can really see if this will be any good, or just a 30 minute weekly commercial for the Marvel movies (and the toys they generate).  But it looks like they got a pretty great cast assembled,  Will Friedle, better known in animation circles as Batman Beyond, is taking over for Hollywood’s hottest leading man, Chris Pratt as Peter “Starlord” Quill. Vanessa Marshall (Star Wars: Rebels‘ Hera) is Gamora. Voice acting stars David Sobolov (Transformers Prime) and Kevin Michael Richardson (Family Guy) play  Drax the Destroyer and Groot, respectively, the same parts they played when the Guardians showed up on Hulk Agents of S.M.A.S.H and other Disney toons. Trevor Devall (Johnny Test‘s Dukey) has already played Rocket Raccoon on two episodes of  Avengers Assemble.

In addition to a sneak peek of the sneak peek airing September, Disney will air five 2-part introductions of each Guardian.  This two-minute shorts will air Satudays in August.  Here’s a full schedule of origin short premieres:

  • Aug. 1: Star Lord, Part 1 (8:58 pm) and Part 2 (10:28 pm)
  • Aug. 8: Groot, Part 1 (8:58 pm) and Part 2 (9:58 pm)
  • Aug. 15: Rocket Raccoon, Part 1 (8:58 pm) and Part 2 (9:58 pm)
  • Aug. 22: Drax, Part 1 (8:58 pm) and Part 2 (9:58 pm)
  • Aug. 29: Gamora, Part 1 (8:58 pm) and Part 2 (9:58 pm)
