The Cast of ROGUE ONE Announced at D23

It truly is a great time to be a Star Wars fan.

It’s even better if you went to the D23 Expo. Disney shared a whole lot of about what they have coming up Star Wars related.   Now if you were expecting something about Star Wars: The Force Awakens, you might have been a little disappointed, but they more than made up for with the first look at the cast for the first Star Wars anthology film, ROGUE ONE with will be at theatres in 2016.  Direct from the set, director Gareth Edwards’, sent this picture.

For those of you don’t know, Rogue One is a stand alone story, set in the Star Wars universe, and set just before the events of A New Hope.  It will tell the story of how the Rebel Alliance got their hands on the Death Star plans, the same plans that eventually ended up inside Artoo Detoo, and set Luke Skywalker on his path.

“It goes into new territory, exploring the galactic struggle from a ground-war perspective while maintaining that essential Star Wars feel that fans have come to know. Gareth is such an innovative director and I’m so excited to be working with him and the extraordinary ensemble cast he’s selected for Rogue One.”  said Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy.

Felicity Jones stars in Rogue One she is part of the team of Rebels who take part in a mission to steal the plans for the Death Star.  The film also stars Riz Ahmed, Diego Luna, Jiang Wen, and Donnie Yen as part of Jones’ team.  The film will also star Forest Whitaker, Ben Mendelsohn, Mads Mikkelsen, and Alan Tudyk, who’s character will be brought to life through performance-capture animation.

Rogue One  A Star Wars Story comes to theatres on December 16, 2016.
