We knew this day was coming. For 20 years.
They’ve come back.
Independence Day was a huge hit, it was classic 1950s B-movie alien invasion story, with state of the art special effects, and a talented cast, including a Fresh Prince, on his way to becoming one of the biggest stars in the world.
Will Smith‘s Captain Steve Hiller won’t be returning to save the day again, but there are plenty of familiar faces, like former fighter pilot and President of the United States Thomas Whitmore (Bill Pullman), and computer genius David Levinson (Jeff Goldblum) showing up in this sequel, along side new would be world saver Liam Hemsworth.
To help explain what has happened in the 20 years since Randy Quaid sacrificed himself to save humanity, the producers have created a website which shows you the history of the world since the War of 1996, where you can find out how humanity has rebuilt the world so quickly, and how it has become a united world. (And if you pay close attention, you may find out what has happened to your favorite characters since then and why a certain world saving pilot is missing.)
So will you be heading back to theaters next year to see the aliens take another crack at blowing up world monuments? Or have you seen it all before?
