Special Edition NYC 2015 Cosplay

Ghost Rider

This past weekend in New York City, ReedPop, the folks behind New York Comic Con, held their second annual Special Edition: NYC Comic Con, which gets back down to the source of it all – Comics! There were no studios telling you about their latest theatrical releases, or television adaptions.  There were no video game demos, or large multi-platform media product launches.  It was just comics.  The people who make comics, getting together with the people who love them to talk about comics. And of course, there was cosplay.  Lots of cosplay. We here in Geeksville love all cosplay, we … Continue reading

Underneath the Cosplay with Gogo Incognito

Gogo Incognito - Underneath the Cosplay

We first saw Gogo Incognito at NYCC this year.  We spotted her from across the show floor, posing for fans.  She was very hard to miss.  She has so much energy, that her eyes lit up, and she had a whip.  She was cosplaying Catwoman, not an uncommon sight at Comic Con. This Catwoman however, wouldn’t have looked out of place starring in Cabaret. She was paired with the Riddler and Poison Ivy, and all three of them were amazing. After seeing them, I was trying to figure out how to produce the Broadway musical, so I could hire … Continue reading

Cosplay vs. Comic Artists

As someone who has done comics retail for 6 years, I feel confident speaking on the subject of cosplay and comic conventions, and the recent trend of industry professionals and retailers complaining about cosplayers. Let them come in not knowing and then let them walk into a comic store or up to someone’s booth, to people who will educate them, if they’re willing to learn. Superheroes and comics … Continue reading

NYCC 2014 – Day Four – Family, Friends, and Fun

COmicCon-Overview-8

Four days of nerdvana came to a close earlier today.  Comics, TV, movies, video games, cosplay and all sorts of fun was to be had, as over 100,000 fans came out for Family Day at New York Comic Con.     It was a low key day for me, after a late night out, celebrating friend of Geeksville Aleta Pardalis‘ second place finish in the TV and Film category in the Eastern Championships of Cosplay. Other than that, I spent a good portion of the day wheeling and dealing on the show floor, and I went home with plenty … Continue reading

NYCC 2014 – Day Three – Interviews, Cosplay, and Contests

DC-Cosplay

The Third Day of Comic Con, Saturday… Total Fan-demonium. Today I got to speak with Fred Van Lente and Clayton Henry, where we got to talk about their upcoming Ivar, Timewalker from Valiant Comics, as well as Archer & Armstrong, The Delinquents and some other fun stuff (Look for that interview soon). I also sat down with the magic man himself, Matt Ryan, as well as Angélica Celaya (Zed) and Executive Producer, David S. Goyer, where we talked about the newest DC TV series, Constantine, which debuts on Friday October 24th, at 10pm on NBC. The highlight of the day … Continue reading
