The Last Jedi Teaser Trailer Arrives

Geeksville has been away for a while (more on that later) But with the return of our favorite Jedi, I couldn’t stay away, and had to share the teaser trailer, which was first screened at the Star Wars Celebration in Orlando, FL this weekend. Star Wars fans were treated to the first look of Rey‘s training, with Luke Skywalker (hopefully she won’t have to run a spartan race while giving her teacher a piggy back ride, like her master did.)  As she learns about Force, and may All off this happens as the Resistance faces an onslaught from Snoke’s First Order … Continue reading

Star Trek Beyond Trailer Crashes Down on the Internet

Paramount Pictures has released the official version of the Star Trek Beyond trailer. You didn’t come here to just read about it, so here it is. Earlier today, the German language version of the trailer had leaked out to the internet, so Paramount went ahead and put the official one out, just days before it was slated to appear in theaters before the upcoming Star Wars: The Force Awakens. (Which is also reported to have the first Captain America: Civil War, the third Batman v Superman, and an exclusive Deadpool trailer, attached to the IMAX version) This is certainly not … Continue reading

They’re Coming Back! – Independence Day: Resurgance

We knew this day was coming.   For 20 years. They’ve come back. Independence Day was a huge hit, it was classic 1950s B-movie alien invasion story, with state of the art special effects, and a talented cast, including a Fresh Prince, on his way to becoming one of the biggest stars in the world. Will Smith‘s Captain Steve Hiller won’t be returning to save the day again, but there are plenty of familiar faces, like former fighter pilot and President of the United States Thomas Whitmore (Bill Pullman), and computer genius David Levinson (Jeff Goldblum) showing up in this … Continue reading

Imperium: A Comic Built Around the Paradox of a Utopian Nightmare

Joshua Dysart writes one comic title per month – Valiant Comics’ Imperium. For established writers with his track record, that is unusual, and Dysart is not want for work. He’s simply focusing on writing only one title a month so he can produce the best story within him, and it shows with the sophistication and appeal of Imperium. For the uninitiated it’s focused on Toyo Harada, potentially the most powerful character in the Valiant Universe with his abilities to hack minds, control people, and manipulate matter at will. There are few limitations to his abilities, which have created the perfect … Continue reading

Geek Out With “Spartacus” On Netflix

It’s always been a mystery to me why, in an era of increasing shock value and excessive explicit material on television, the Starz series Spartacus was so overlooked by mainstream audiences. Sure, it never had the built-in audience of Game Of Thrones (which of course is based on a book series) or the easy accessibility of House Of Cards (a Netflix original), but Spartacus had many of the same attributes that have kept shows like these so popular for years now. There was reckless ambition, sudden death, sex appeal and nonstop political scheming. In many respects, it was the perfect … Continue reading
