IMPERIUM’S Joshua Dysart Talks Movies, Villains, and His Most Important Character

Joshua Dysart’s Imperium, published by Valiant Comics and drawn by Doug Braithwaite, has taken comics into new territory. Beware that this interview may contain minor spoilers. Already known for his socio-political awareness, Dysart picks up where Harbinger and Omegas left off by turning his full attention to Toyo Harada – one of the most engaging and complex characters to grace comics. And by extension, Imperium has become one of the most ambitious comic titles on the market. Harada is no ordinary villain. In fact, it’s arguable that he’s simply a man with a plan and vision that would bode better … Continue reading

The Other Man in the Yellow Suit. Talking with the Flash’s Matt Letscher

The Flash just finished its freshman season on the CW, and it went out with a bang.  The season ended with Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) facing offf with his mother’s killer, the man in the yellow suit, the Reverse Flash.  The Reverse Flash off course, turned out to be Harrison Wells (Tom Cavanaugh) but even that was a mask.  He was really Eobard Thawne, a speedster from the future, who hates the Flash, and found himself trapped in the past.   But when he first arrived in the 21st century, he wore a different face. The younger Thawne was played by … Continue reading

Underneath the Cosplay with Gogo Incognito

We first saw Gogo Incognito at NYCC this year.  We spotted her from across the show floor, posing for fans.  She was very hard to miss.  She has so much energy, that her eyes lit up, and she had a whip.  She was cosplaying Catwoman, not an uncommon sight at Comic Con. This Catwoman however, wouldn’t have looked out of place starring in Cabaret. She was paired with the Riddler and Poison Ivy, and all three of them were amazing. After seeing them, I was trying to figure out how to produce the Broadway musical, so I could hire … Continue reading

Timewalking with Fred Van Lente and Clayton Henry

2015 sees the critically acclaimed publish launch the next phase, aptly named Valiant Next.   The first new ongoing series Ivar, Timewalker arrives in stores this week, from creative team Fred Van Lente (writer) and Clayton Henry (artist). The series stars the third and oldest immortal Anni-Padda brother, Ivar. As the series title might suggest, he can also travel in time. I recently sat down with both Van Lente and Henry to talk about their new series, time travel, the collaborative process, and epic nature of comic book story telling. Van Lente and Henry were responsible for the Archer & … Continue reading

Sitting Down With Constantine

At this year’s New York Comic Con, I got a chance to sit down with John Constantine. That is, I sat with the actor who be playing him this fall on TV.  The show premieres on Friday October 24, but I got to see an advance screening of the series’ pilot the first night of Comic Con.  At the show’s press roundtable, Matt Ryan the star of NBC’s new comic book series, Constantine, as well his co-star, Angélica Celaya, (Zed Martin) and series Executive Producer, David S. Goyer, all spent time with the press to talk about the new … Continue reading
