Supergirl – First Look

Supergirl

The first pictures of Melissa Benoist (Glee) in her costume for the Supergirl pilot being made for CBS are out, and here’s the place to see them.  The pilot, written by executive producers Greg Berlanti (Arrow, Flash) and Amy Adler (Chuck, No Ordinary Family) began shooting this week. The shot of the serious looking Kara Zor-el which went out officially today was also joined by a more playfully looking Benoist on DC Entertainment Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns’ Instagram feed (below)   #Supergirl!!! Can DC Comics Be Saved?

dc-comics-saved

Lately it seems that every week there is a story somewhere on the web about DC Comics, and how in one way or another they are screwing up.   It’s so bad that there is website dedicated to the question, “Has DC Comics done something stupid today?”  Being a life long DC fan, it has been upsetting, and frustrating.  I want them to be good. My old friend, and creator if the … Continue reading

Flash, iZombie picked up as series for the fall

tvflashzom

The CW network has revealed it’s fall line up for 2014. To no one’s surprised, joining the CW schedule is  Arrow spin-off series The Flash, along with the DC/Vertigo inspired iZombie from Veronica Mars show runner Rob Thomas. I was cautiously optimistic when I heard they were introducing Barry Allen and the Flash to the Arrow-verse last year.  The brightly colored Scarlet Speedster seemed so at odds with the dark and moody world of the hooded vigilante.  But somehow they found an nice balance.   Of course the Flash himself has not shown up the parent series.  The backdoor pilot they … Continue reading

Read of the Week – Aquaman #7

Aquaman-The-Others-1

Aquaman is my read of the week. Wow, did I just type that?  Aquaman?  The guy who talks to fish? Who’d have thought that? Ok seriously though, since even before the New 52, going back to Brightest Day, Geoff Johns said he was going to make A-Man huge, and he was not kidding. He’s managed to keep many of the things that make the character enjoyable, the bad ass, take no prisoners attitude and jettison the hokey-ness of Aquaman’s Saturday morning portrayal.  One of the things I like most, is despite being being raised by a New England Lighthouse Keeper, … Continue reading
