NYCC 2014 – Day Two, Comics, Conversation, and Cosplay

Friday brings the first full day of programing at NYCC, as comic and pop culture fans from around the world descend on the Jacob Javits Center, and regular New Yorkers don’t even look up from their iPhones as they share a subway ride with Wolverine, Batman, and the Walking Dead to midtown Manhattan. A beautiful fall day in New York, and I spend the whole day indoors at NYCC attending panels both informative and entertaining.    I started the day with a spirited discussion, “Marry, Do, or Kill?  What will it take to shatter female stereotypes in comics?”  It was an … Continue reading

NYCC 2014 – Day One – Welcome to New York Comic Con

October in New York, my favorite time of year in my favorite place in the world.   The air is crisp, the leaves in Central Park are just starting to change.   The Yankees are in the Post-…   what?  They didn’t make the playoffs? Well that’s ok, because there is still New York Comic Con going on this year! Ah, The Jacob Javits Center,   you will never find a greater hive of scum and villainy…   and geeks. NYCC 2013 Day 4 – More Who, More Cosplay, More Friends, and More Fun.

Sunday at Comic Con had always been a day where things were a little quieter in the past.   It was a good day to head out onto the floor, look for deals, maybe seek out a favorite artist and get to talk to them without being too rushed. This year, not so much.   The demand for tickets has been so high, that Sunday’s ticket has been a sell out too.   I always loved that Sunday been family day at NYCC,  to see so many young fans there, in costumes, brought a big smile to my face. I was … Continue reading

NYCC 2013 Day 3 – More Doctor Who, Valiant, and of course, COSPLAY OF THE DAY!

Saturday at New York Comic Con. Or as I like to call it,  the 8th ring of hell. Maybe it’s not the best thing for a mild agoraphobic like myself to be at, but I persevered. As you may remember, I was up late after the first day, due to an animal emergency.   I was still pretty tired, but I tried to get to the Con pretty early, because I knew I wanted to get to the Doctor Who panel.  It was mostly a fan gathering as no one listed to appear on the panel was directly connected to the … Continue reading
