Sherlock Returns this Christmas

It’s been almost two years since the last new episode of the BBC’s hit series Sherlock aired. The wait has been long, but is nearly over, and to prove it, here is the first trailer for the upcoming Sherlock Christmas special.   Unconnected to the series, which is set in modern London, this special is set in the classic Holmes period (the late 19th Century) but it does feature the 21st cast, including stars Benedict Cumberbatch(Shelock), and Martin Freeman (Watson) along with Amanda Abbington (Mary Watson), Rupert Graves (Inspector Lastrade), and Una Stubbs (Mrs. Hudson). Sherlock Special Set in 19th Century

So it’s been over a year since we last saw the good fellows of 221B Baker Street, Sherlock (Benedict Cumberbatch) and Dr. John Watson (Martin Freeman) together, in The Last Vow.  Fans have waited patiently to return to the story of Holmes, his best friend, and his best friend’s wife  (played by Freeman’s longtime partner, Amanda Abbington) but series 4 is still a ways off.  But there will be a Sherlock holiday special this year to look forward to. BBC/Netflix Deal Will Keep Doctor Who In Your Queue

It’s okay Whovians,  you can relax. Popular internet streaming service Netflix will continue to stream the complete modern series of Doctor Who (at least up through the Matt Smith episodes) for the foreseeable future, according to Variety.com. No word yet when Peter Capaldi’s first season as the Doctor, the series’ eighth since returning in 2005, will begin streaming on the site.   Not only will Doctor Who (both the current, and collection of classic stories) remain available, Netflix will also continue to stream Who spinoff Torchwood, as well as Luther, Top Gear (seasons 17 through 20), Wallander, Keeping Up Appearances, … Continue reading

Sherlock Wins Big at the Emmys

  BBC hit series Sherlock brought home Seven Emmy Awards between this evening’s 66th Annual Prime Time Emmys, and the Creative Arts Emmy Awards, which were given out on Saturday August 16th.  More than any other program this year.  The series ran on PBS, making it eligible.     This is the first year the show had won one of the coveted golden statues, despite having been nominated every year it has been eligible.   Since 2011, the show had received 14 Prime Time Emmys nominations, and 15 Creative Arts Emmys nominations, include 5 Prime Time nominations, and  7 Creative Awards nominations … Continue reading
