Make room in your class schedule for a little time travel.  Aquinas College, in Stockport, Greater Manchester, UK is offering a class this spring in our favorite Time Lord, Doctor Who. Part of the school’s Adult Education program, the class will run 11 weeks, meeting once a week.  The class will cover all 51 years of the program’s illustrious history, from the it’s conception by Sydney Newman and Verity Lambert right up though the present day series, starring Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman, and produced by Steven Moffat. IDW to produce 50th Anniversary Doctor Who Maxi-Series

IDW has produced some pretty cool Doctor Who comics, not to mention the Doctor Who/Star Trek the Next Generation crossover they are currently putting out (Issue 6 (of 8) will be out this week!), and have recently relaunched the ongoing title with Andy Diggle writing and art by Mark Buckingham. Now they are joining in to the Doctor’s 50th Anniversary (the program debuted on the BBC on November 23, 1963) with a new 12 issue Maxi-series called Doctor Who: Prisoners of Time. 2 Lost Doctor Who Episodes Found


Not seen in over 40 years, two early episodes of Doctor Who have recently been found. Of 253 episodes that aired when William Hartnell (1963-66) and Patrick Troughton (1966-69) played the Doctor, 108 had believed to been lost, due to the BBC’s policy of “wiping”.  Now that number is 106.  The episodes discovered are 1965 episode “Airlock” which is part 3 of the previously completely lost story Galaxy 4,  and 1967’s  The Underwater Menace part 2 (which joins part 3 as the only surviving episodes of the 4 part story. US fans of the classic Doctor Who series will be thrilled to find out the BBC has made 4 complete serials , starring 4 different Doctors available in the US on YouTube. Stories include one from the First Season, First Doctor 2 parter “The Edge of Destruction” (The only complete serial to take place entirely in the TARDIS, starring William Hartnell).
