Batman v Superman trailer, Suicide Squad first look debuts at SDCC.

This year Marvel passed on a presentation in the big room, so it’s WB/DC Entertainment’s turn in Hall H to wow the folks at San Diego Comic Con, and they didn’t hold anything back. The room was filled with anxious fans, whose appetite was whetted with looks at a couple of non-DC related projects first, The Man from U.N.C.L.E (starring Superman, himself, Henry Cavill as Napoleon Solo and Armie Hammer as Illya Kuryakin).  The presentation kicked off with a taped introduction by the always colorful and highly redacted director Guy Ritchie. Then they showed the official Comic Con trailer, which they … Continue reading

Special Edition NYC 2015 Cosplay

Ghost Rider

This past weekend in New York City, ReedPop, the folks behind New York Comic Con, held their second annual Special Edition: NYC Comic Con, which gets back down to the source of it all – Comics! There were no studios telling you about their latest theatrical releases, or television adaptions.  There were no video game demos, or large multi-platform media product launches.  It was just comics.  The people who make comics, getting together with the people who love them to talk about comics. DC’s Spring event Convergence is all about looking back, but when DC returns to Earth 0 this June (still not used to that, btw) several of the comic book company’s big guns will be sporting new duds, some are just tweaks, others well… Drastic comes to mind. Superman seems to have reverted, back to his too cool for school t-shirt and jeans, and Wonder Woman has gone for the full cover.  Batman,  well,  whoever it is wearing the combat suit is a pretty wild choice, especially with the high caliber persuation he seems to be carrying. Flash and Arrow both … Continue reading

DC Launching A Ton of New Titles With A “Broader Focus”

Black Canary get her own monthly title (and her fishnets) beginning in June, from DC Comics, by Batgirl writer Brenden Fletcher
and artist Annie Wu

DC Universe will introduce 24 new tiles this summer, the most in a co-ordinated launch since the entire DCU relaunched as the New 52.   It’s being called “bold new direction for the DC Universe (DCU).”    Most of the new titles will be ongoing series, featuring some of DC’s most popular characters to have never had their own ongoing series before (Cyborg, Starfire, Midnighter)  and some haven’t had their own title since the 2011 relaunch (Black Canary, Martian Manhunter, Doctor Fate) Only 25 of DC’s current titles will continue after the upcoming Convergence Event.   That means there will only be 49 … Continue reading
